Peanut oil is the classic choice thanks to its high smoke point and rich flavor. Our Turkey Fry Oil is available in both 100% Peanut Oil and a Peanut & Vegetable Blend, offering you the flexibility to balance flavor, performance, and cost.
A foolproof method is the water displacement test: place your turkey in the pot, fill with water until submerged, then remove the bird and mark the water line. That mark is your oil fill line, ensuring enough oil without risking dangerous overflow.
Never fry a frozen turkey. The ice rapidly turns to steam, causing violent splattering and potential fire hazards. Always thaw your turkey completely in the refrigerator and pat it completely dry before frying.
Heat the oil to about 350°F before adding the bird. Once submerged, the temperature will drop. Maintain between 325–350°F for safe, consistent cooking. Plan on ~3.5 minutes per pound, and confirm doneness with a meat thermometer at 165°F in the thickest part of the breast.
Always fry outdoors in an open, stable space — never inside, on a deck, or in a garage. Keep the fryer away from flammable objects and always have a fire extinguisher nearby.
